ROSEVILLE, Minn. - The number of in-store health clinics has reached 600 in 40 of the top 50 metropolitan areas, according to figures released yesterday from health care research firm Merchant Medicine.
The clinics are run by 37 operators, and active in 35 states, according to the report. MinuteClinic, with 257 locations, has been the most active in its expansion, with TakeCare Health Systems, Conshohocken, Penn., and RediClinic, Houston, Texas, following with 55 and 48 locations respectively.
According to Merchant Medicine, these numbers are poised to rise, as virtually all insurance companies are putting convenience care clinics into their networks.
