Affiliated Foods Midwest Reveals Record Year at Fall Food Show

Affiliated Foods Midwest Cooperative Inc. held its 83rd annual Fall Food Show Sept. 18-20 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb., during which the company announced it provided its members a record $57 million in cash patronage rebates for the year.

The company revealed that members experiences rebates as high as 5.6 percent of purchases and the average annual retailers’ rebate increased to 4.75 percent of purchases. Operating expenses were also reduced from the prior year.

This year's AFM Fall Food Show, themed "IMPACT 2015," featured nine educational seminars and more than 580 vendor booths offering the latest trends and insights affecting the independent retail grocery industry.

The show also included the Retailer Awards Reception, which recognizes growth and performance during the prior fiscal year. Dean's Foods was named Vendor of the year in honor of its partnership with AFM, and Vision Impact 2020 awards were presented to Pinnacle Foods and Topco for their impact adapting their business model to improve their costs to service. Ken Fiedler of Ken’s Super Fair Foods in Aberdeen, S.D., was recognized as Retailer of the Year.

Affiliated Foods Midwest is a member-owned cooperative providing independent grocers with foods, supermarket supplies and services throughout several states in the Midwest.  AFM is a member of the Topco Cooperative, the second-largest procurer of grocery goods in the U.S.
