AG New England Creates Position of Director of Transportation

PEMBROKE, N.H. -- Kevin P. Murray has been promoted to the new position of director of transportation at Associated Grocers of New England here, the wholesaler said yesterday.

"Kevin will seek out new strategies for keeping pace with our sales growth and the ever-changing retail food distribution business," said AG New England s.v.p. warehousing and transportation Stephen Creed in a statement. "Given the extremely competitive nature of our business, it is crucial that we get products to our customers cost-effectively and identify any opportunities for increased efficiency. Kevin's 15 years with AG New England have given him an in-depth knowledge of our retailers, suppliers, internal systems, and procedures; his experience will greatly benefit our distribution teams."

Before joining the company, Murray was an export agent at Schenkers International Forwarders and operations manager at Team Air Express. Both companies are based in East Boston, Mass.

Owned entirely by independent retail grocers as members of a cooperative, AG New England, the largest retailer-owned wholesale grocery distribution center in the region, serves independent retail food stores in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the upstate New York/Albany area, including almost 500 supermarkets and convenience retail stores.
