AgriWorld Exchange to License PMA Data

NEWARK, Del. -- The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) here said online agri-trading marketplace AgriWorld Exchange will be a licensee of the trade group's extensive produce database.

Menlo Park, Calif.-based Agri-World Exchange will use PMA's ASAP Produce database in its online exchange. Under the agreement, AgriWorld Exchange traders will be able to choose a commodity from the PMA's ASAP Produce pre-loaded catalog, ensuring uniformity of product identification, the two parties said.

The platform will be able to move seamlessly from ASAP Produce to the GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) system as it becomes more commonly adopted throughout the industry.

PMA's ASAP Produce is a database of standardized attributes and values for ordering, shipping, and invoicing products. It helps buyers and sellers manage and maintain visibility into the produce supply chain for investigation, category management, and efficiency reasons.

The incorporation of ASAP Produce by AgriWorld Exchange contributes to the worldwide effort to standardize how buyers and sellers categorize and group products, representing a first step toward eventual adoption and use of GTIN.

The AgriWorld Exchange launched on Friday October 12.

PMA serves more than 2,100 companies representing all segments of the global produce and floral supply chains.
