    Ahold’s Schlicker to Keynote Saint Joseph’s Univ. Industry Summit

    Other industry notables will. also present at SJU Summit

    Carl Schlicker, COO, Ahold USA and Dan Sanders, president of Supervalu’s Acme Markets subsidiary, are among the keynote speakers on hand for Saint Joseph’s University’s (SJU) Department of Food Marketing’s fifth annual Food Industry Summit, slated for Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 8am to 4pm.

    The upcoming educational and networking summit -- Sales and Profit Growth through Direct Marketing, Social Media, and E-Commerce -- will take place at the Philadelphia-based Saint Joseph’s University’s Haub School of Business. The summit is a venue for food industry CEOs, presidents and executives to present their insights on major issues and trends facing our business.

    “Over the last 5 years, the summit has demonstrated significant value for all attendees, gaining valuable insights from thought leaders across the various disciplines of the food industry,” said Dr. John Stanton, department chair of SJU’s Food Marketing Department, noting that the university “is uniquely suited to host an event like this.  For over 45 years, we have been educating undergraduate and graduate students, performing research, supporting government initiatives, and leading discussions on key issues within the food industry.”

    Aside from Schlicker and Sanders, other speakers on deck to present during the full-day event include:
    • Rick Brindle, customer VP for e-sales and industry affairs, Kraft Foods
    • Mike Salzberg, president, Campbell’s Sales Co.
    • Mike Webster, SVP/GM, NCR Retail Group

    The $250 attendance fee includes continental breakfast and lunch.

    US News and World Report recognized Saint Joseph’s University’s Marketing Undergraduate programs, including Food Marketing, among the best 25 specialty programs in the United States for 2011.
