Air Miles Program Now at B.C. Thrifty Foods Stores

Canadian loyalty program Aeroplan, which this year is celebrating its 25th anniversary, has expanded its partnership with Sobeys, Inc. to now include the grocer’s Thrifty Foods stores in British Columbia.

Starting this week, Aeroplan members can earn miles at over 20 Thrifty Foods locations by joining Club Thrifty Foods and auto-converting their Club Thrifty Foods points into Aeroplan Miles. As in the Club Sobeys initiative, for every two Club Thrifty Foods points that members convert, they’ll get one Aeroplan Mile. Each week, members can earn more miles via in-store “bonus points” offers.

“It was this time last year when we began offering Aeroplan Miles at Sobeys stores in Ontario and the West,” said Craig Landry, SVP, partnerships and rewards at Aeroplan, which is owned by Montreal-based Groupe Aeroplan Inc., an international loyalty management corporation. “With these new locations [we can] offer our West Coast members another option to earn miles on everyday purchases.”

Last year, Aeroplan members received over 2 million rewards, including more than 1.5 million round-trip flights on Air Canada and Star Alliance carriers. In addition to flights, members have access to over 600 specialty, merchandise, hotel, car rental and experiential rewards.

The program’s growing network of over 70 partners represents more than 150 brands in the financial, retail and travel sectors.
