The Airheads brand is introducing its first-ever mass marketing campaign, “The World Needs More Airheads,” in which fans are encouraged to share their moments of “airheadedness” for a chance to be featured in the brand’s future advertising.
Airheads’ initial commercial spots feature the Internet’s funniest Vine stars displaying their own airhead moments, and fans are asked to do the same by submitting a video on the campaign Tumblr page. The top three submissions will be selected to appear in upcoming TV commercials with others featured in mobile and online advertising beginning in June.
The campaign “aims to shine a spotlight on the unexpected happenings that make life interesting and best of all funny,” said Jen Redmond, associate brand manager for Erlanger, Ky.-based Perfetti Van Melle USA, maker of Airheads. “Airheads fans are already capturing airhead moments everyday on platforms like Vine, YouTube and Instagram. Now they can submit these moments for a chance to appear in a national advertising campaign.”
A full list of submission rules and regulations is available online. Fans are also encouraged to use the hashtag #Airheadsneeded when sharing through social channels.
