JUNEAU, AK. - The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) here is offering retailers new seafood support materials: the Omega-3 Seafood In-Ice Sign Topper and the Alaska Seafood Nutrition Information Wallet Card. With the health and wellness movement in full swing, these two new tools can assist retailers in meeting the demand for nutrition and health information at the seafood counter, said the marketing group.
ASMI has also captured many of the health benefits of Alaska seafood on the portable Alaska Seafood Nutrition Information Wallet Card, which highlights nutrition information for wild and sustainable Alaska salmon, whitefish, shellfish, and canned salmon. Consumers can look to the card for a breakdown of calories, protein, fat, sodium, cholesterol and omega-3s.
"Customers see the nutrition chart more than the price," said Mohammad Jeddy, seafood manager at Fiesta Mart in Houston. "If you want to increase sales and gross profit in the seafood department, this is the best tool."
