Albertsons to Cut Prices in All SoCal Stores

Supervalu’s Albertsons banner yesterday revealed its plan to lower prices for thousands of products at its more than 220 Southern California supermarkets in an effort to lure back cost-conscious consumers lost to discounters.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the new program is called “The Big Relief Price Cut” and will include basic stock-up items and staples.

The report added that analysts said that Albertsons was the most expensive traditional grocer in the region, which includes competition from Kroger-owned Ralph’s and Safeway-owned Vons.
