Albertsons LLC Commits to Trans-fat Free Oil in Service Deli

BOISE, Idaho -- Albertsons LLC said yesterday it plans to use trans-fats free oil in all of its service deli departments in an effort to provide healthier eating options for its shoppers.

In August, all of Albertsons LLC's service delis will begin using non-hydrogenated, canola cooking oil, which is trans-fat free. That means all hot foods provided in Albertsons stores will be free from trans-fats, including its Signature Fried Chicken, chicken tenders, potato wedges, and crispy wings, the chain said.

Quality assurance and freshness have become a top priority at Albertsons in recent weeks. Earlier this summer, the company began tracking the temperature of all products moved into Albertsons warehouses, to insure the quality of the fresh products in every store. Additionally, the retailer made all potentially hazardous product recall information available online.

"As the products and technology become available, Albertsons will continue to make operational changes that provide our shoppers the freshest and safest food in the industry," said Bob Miller, c.e.o.

Privately-owned Albertsons LLC operates over 340 stores under the Albertson's banner in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.
