Albertson's, LLC Launches $10.99 90-day Supply of Generic Drugs

Albertson's, LLC expanded its "Rx-tra Savings" prescription discount program yesterday to include a new offering of $10.99 for a 90-day supply of over 500 generic drugs. In addition, the company has added new generic medications -- including cholesterol-lowering agents, anti-hypertensive, and women's health medications -- to its lineup of over 500 drugs already covered by the discount program.

"We have gotten such a great response to this low-cost alternative for our pharmacy patients, that we're excited to enhance it so soon after its launch," explained Raymond McCall, v.p. of pharmacy operations for Albertson's, LLC.

In October 2008, Albertson's, LLC launched its Rx-tra Savings program, which provides member households with discounts on all generic and brand-name medications -- offering up to a 30-day supply of select generic drugs for only $4.99. The program includes generic alternatives for some of the most commonly prescribed drugs used to treat such conditions as diabetes, asthma, depression, heart disease, and thyroid problems.

Membership in the program is a one-time $10 fee, which covers all members of the household -- with no restrictions on number of participants or prescriptions.

Boise, Idaho-based Albertson's, LLC operates over 250 stores under the Albertsons banner in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas.
