AmazonFresh Expands Grocery Service to New Seattle Neighborhoods

SEATTLE - Online-only retailer Amazon.com yesterday expanded its AmazonFresh grocery service into the Seattle neighborhoods of Montlake, South Lake Union, and West Seattle.

To promote the service, the huge online retailer is giving away a free bag of produce to residents in these areas when they make their first order.

According to the AmazonFresh Web site, although Amazon.com founded the company, it operates as an independent grocery delivery business and has its own Web site. The e-grocer said it does use Amazon.com data and systems to simplify the checkout process.

In addition, in its Web site's FAQ section, AmazonFresh noted that it works closely with local vendors to limit the handling of products and ensure the best quality.
