Amish Fine Foods Said Planning 13-store Expansion

NEW YORK -- Amish Fine Foods here is reportedly hoping to open 13 more stores in the New York metropolitan region within three to four years, boosting its portfolio to 30 stores.

The next store will be a 20,000-square-foot market in the Long Island City area of Queens, according to a report in the New York Sun.

"We plan to expand throughout the region," Sean Eren, one of the three co-owners, told the Sun. Another co-owner of Amish Fine Foods, David Selek, said the company is paying more attention to marketing and appearance to stay competitive. "We are presenting the merchandise in a different way, focusing on our Mediterranean background," Selek said. "I think the customers' standards are getting higher."

All of the owners of Amish Fine Foods hail from Turkey.

The retailer also plans to offer such niche items as gluten- and wheat-free products.

Amish Fine Foods also has stores in New Jersey and upstate New York, but the owners say they are particularly interested in opening stores in outer-borough neighborhoods of New York City, and are currently searching for a suitable site in Brooklyn.
