The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company Inc. (A&P), Montvale, N.J., has launched a line of premium-quality Angus beef promising "steakhouse-quality meat at affordable supermarket prices." Woodson & James Choice Angus Beef, exclusive to A&P banner stores, will replace the current beef steak and roast offerings in all A&P, Pathmark, Superfresh, Waldbaum's and The Food Emporium stores beginning today.
The new Woodson & James Angus Beef line consists of USDA Choice Angus beef that is grain-fed and single-sourced for premium flavor, tenderness and quality, A&P said. By switching to one supplier (National Beef), the retailer said it can guarantee shoppers consistently juicier, tastier, higher-quality beef at a great value.
"These tasty and tender new meats are ideal for summer grilling," said Tom O'Boyle, A&P's executive vice president of merchandising and marketing. "We are confident that our customers will agree Woodson & James is the ultimate beef eating experience."
Shoppers may also view beef recipes and cooking tips on the new Woodson & James website at www.woodsonandjames.com. In addition, all stores will feature new in-store Woodson & James signage. Associates from the retailer's meat department, outfitted in Woodson & James aprons, will be on hand to offer simple preparation and cooking tips, as well as information about the new beef line.
