Two winners have been chosen as the recipients of the Sam S. Politz Scholarship Fund, which is provided by the retail members of Baton Rouge, La.-based Associated Grocers Inc. The scholarship fund is dedicated to the memory of Sam S. Politz, former president and CEO of Associated Grocers.
The two winners of the 2013 Associated Grocers/Sam S. Politz Scholarship – which are valued at $1,000 per semester for eight semesters to graduating high school students who meet all the required criteria and which were chosen by an independent selection and review committee appointed by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation – are Ashley Alexander of Prairieville, La., who will attend Louisiana State University, where she will major in International Studies and Business, and Brandon Deshotels of Zachary, La., who will also attend Louisiana State University to major in biochemistry in the honors college.
