Countdown on for 2016 Top Women in Grocery Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for Progressive Grocer’s 2016 Top Women in Grocery awards program, which recognizes the integral role women play across all segments of the retail food industry.

This year marks Top Women in Grocery's 10th anniversary, for a special commemorative celebration is being planned in late 2016. Additional details will be forthcoming as the date of the gala draws closer.

Nominations are open to women across all sectors of the grocery industry – for above-and-beyond achievements logged between April 2015 and March 1, 2016 – from the retailer/wholesaler and supplier/vendor communities in three categories:

  • Senior-level Executives (title of Vice President or higher)
  • Rising Stars (titles lower than Vice President)
  • Store Managers (titles of Store Manager, Store Director, Area/Region Director)

Progressive Grocer will present the new slate of Top Women in Grocery in its June 2016 issue, which will be devoted to showcasing overall excellence and continued achievement among female movers and shakers in the North American retail food industry. All Top Women in Grocery winners will also be recognized at an afternoon education and networking event and evening gala awards celebration at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla., in early November.

"While momentum is gradually building for women leaders in the retail food industry, evidence of change at the uppermost echelons remains a work in progress," said Meg Major, Progressive Grocer's chief content editor. "Accordingly, it will remain essential to continue trumpeting the incremental gains women are reaching in order to foster and advance awareness of the critical skill sets women bring to the table."

All Top Women in Grocery nominations must detail unique accomplishments and extraordinary achievements – such as innovative corporate initiatives, extraordinary financial and strategic endeavors, astute problem-solving acumen, and exceptional performance benchmarks – attained during the April 2015-to-March 1, 2016, timeframe.

Past Top Women in Grocery winners are eligible to enter but are required to include a minimum of three unique and significant accomplishments/achievements attained during the 12-month entry period beyond that which was recognized in previous years.

Deadline for applications is March 18, 2016.

Progressive Grocer will notify all winners/companies by April 29, 2016.
