Ball Park Sponsors Jackie Robinson Biopic Release

The Ball Park brand has teamed up with Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures in support of the upcoming release of “42,” the new biopic that celebrates the life and achievements of legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson.

The sponsorship program includes an integrated mix of brand marketing initiatives including consumer promotions, public relations and digital marketing/social media. The campaign also features a Facebook sweepstakes as well as in-store activations at such retailers as Kroger and Safeway.

“Jackie Robinson was more than a legendary ball player and his legacy extends far beyond the playing field,” said Timothy Smith, VP of Marketing for Ball Park, a brand of Downers Grove, Ill.-based Hillshire Brands Company. “We couldn’t be more proud to align our brand with 42 and celebrate the life of Robinson while also rewarding our fans.”

Through April 14, consumers are encouraged to visit the “42 Sweepstakes” tab on the Ball Park brand Facebook page and answer the multiple choice trivia question of the day for a chance to win the daily prize and be entered into the grand prize drawing. Daily prize packs include a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., Sony PlayStation gaming consoles, game day grilling kits, VIP Hometown Screenings of “42”, grocery gift cards and more.

On April 15, recognized nationally as Jackie Robinson Day, Ball Park will award one fan a trip for four to a professional U.S. regular season baseball game of choice, complete with four round trip airline tickets, hotel accommodations for three days and two nights and a $500 gift card for game day souvenirs and snacks.

Additionally, consumers who visit select Kroger and Safeway grocery stores this spring can receive a free “42” movie ticket valued at up to $13 with the purchase of select Ball Park brand products. The in-store programs will extend through the beginning of April as fans prepare to fire up the grill for the start of baseball season.

Hillshire Brands’ portfolio includes Jimmy Dean, Ball Park, Hillshire Farm, State Fair, Sara Lee frozen bakery and Chef Pierre pies, as well as artisanal brands Aidells and Gallo Salame.
