Today, over 100,000 older adults will engage in activities to improve their health as part of the 2010 National Senior Health & Fitness Day (NSHFD), a nationwide health and fitness event sponsored in part this year by fruit-based nutrition beverage brand BeneVia.
Now in its 17th year, the event takes place at 1,000 local venues, including retirement communities, health clubs, senior centers, parks, hospitals and YMCAs, across the United States on the same day. BeneVia will be on hand to distribute thousands of samples to participants at more than 200 NSHFD-identified sites.
“For older adults, a healthy and active lifestyle is important for long-term health,” said John Troup, president and CEO of Little Rock, Ark.-based HealthSpan Solutions, LLC, the maker of BeneVia. “It takes daily attention to nutrition and physical activity. BeneVia and [this] nationwide event are a great combination that can help older adults feel great and stay healthy.”
“Activity and BeneVia have been shown to enhance muscle energy and strength, and can lead to reduced health risks,” noted HealthSpan events coordinator Taylor Carter. “For those not able to attend an official Senior Event Day site, we’ve organized a free sample and coupons site online at www.trybenevia.com.”
Fortified with the essential vitamins and minerals for healthy aging, naturally flavored, low-calorie, low-sugar BeneVia comes in four varieties: Strength & Energy, with ViaLeuPro a protein-and-leucine blend; Memory & Focus, with omega-3 DHA and the antioxidant lutein; Heart Health, with ViaLeuPro and phytosterols; and Immune Protect, with arginine and DHA.
