Betty White Serves as Human Face of Cat Photo Contest

More popular than ever after years in show business, erstwhile “Golden Girl” Betty White has teamed with Sergeant’s Pet Care Products and Morris Animal Foundation for the “Happy, Healthy Cat Photo Contest,” to draw attention to Denver-based Morris’ annual campaign in support of feline health.

“Cats are wonderful pets and sometimes don’t get the respect they deserve,” said White, a staunch animal advocate who will serve as contest judge. “They make you laugh and they can laugh with you. They can be the best friends in the world.”

Through Dec. 15, consumers can visit sergeants.com to upload their images, which will then be available to view in the contest photo gallery. Photos can be submitted in one of three categories: The Happy, Healthy Cat category, for photos of cats that best represent the happy, healthy contest theme; The My Favorite Human category, for photos of cats with their preferred family, child or adult; and The My Favorite K9 category, for photos of cats with their dog best friends, in demonstration of the fact that the two species can – and often do – get along famously.

White will evaluate the finalists in each category and then select the grand-prize winner and runners-up. The grand-prize winner will appear on the cover of AnimalNews and spotlighted in an article in the magazine, which is published by Morris Animal Foundation. The top prize additionally includes a gift card to PetSmart and a gift assortment of Sergeant’s cat products. Runners-up will get gift cards and gift assortments.

According to Caryn Stichler, VP of marketing for Omaha-based Sergeant’s: “Our work on developing products that support feline health and happiness and Morris Animal Foundation's work on advancing veterinary research to improve cats’ lives make us perfect partners.”
