Bi-Lo, Publix Among Grocers Helping Bring Tornado Relief in Southeast

MAULDIN, S.C. and LAKELAND, Fla. -- Bi-Lo LLC and Publix Super Markets were among the Southeastern supermarket chains helping bring relief to victims of last week's devastating tornadoes.

Bi-Lo joined forces with Chattanooga, Tenn. radio station US 101, to launch a program collecting water and non-perishable food donations at all Chattanooga Bi-Lo locations. LTD Logistics delivered donations to victims in Pisgah Ala. on Feb. 8. US 101 hosted live radio remotes at several Chattanooga-area Bi-Lo locations to encourage donations.

Publix Super Markets said it formed a partnership with the American Red Cross to assist customers who wanted to help others. It began collecting money at its 20 stores in Tennessee for tornado victims in that state last week. Signs posted in stores encouraged customers to donate to the American Red Cross..
Bi-Lo operates 223 supermarkets in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.

Publix operates 928 supermarkets in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee.
