The recent grand re-opening of a location in Greer, S.C., marked the culmination of regional grocer Bi-Lo’s efforts to revamp its stores over the past 13 months as part of its larger five-year plan.
“This redesigned store represents all the great things Bi-Lo is doing to provide customers tremendous savings without having to sacrifice the quality and service they desire,” noted Bi-Lo president and CEO Michael Byars.
The company’s plan has included individually renovating its store designs and layout, in addition to developing new offerings offering its customers both quality and savings. The enhanced Greer store is serving as what Bil-Lo calls a “testing platform” for possible future stores.
The overhauled location, which reopened June 9, now features a warmer, richer color palette and décor, and all of the departments have been upgraded to highlight freshness, variety and quality. Among the new offerings are the following:
--Fresh-sliced Sara Lee meats and cheeses, Lip Lickin’ Fried Chicken, Signature Deli Pizza, and Sweet Dreams Custom Cakes and Gourmet Cookies, alongside fresh artisan breads, muffins, pastries and doughnuts
--An on-site butcher who can custom cut, grind or cube, as well as providing advice on grilling and preparation, all at no extra charge
--A broad seafood selection, including such Bi-Lo exclusives as Chef’s Catch and Lakehouse Catfish
--A produce department offering an open-market ambiance along with Bi-Lo’s triple-inspected Walter’s Produce
--A free Wi-Fi café where visitors can sit back, enjoy a coffee or a snack, and surf the Web
According to Byars, the company planned “to [take] this new vision as part of our company’s five-year plan and [implement it] across Bi-Lo’s footprint to continue delivering savings and fresh, high-quality products our customers have come to know and deserve.”
Mauldin, S.C.-based Bi-Lo operates 207 supermarkets in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee, employing about 15,100 associates.
