SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Big Y Foods, Inc. here has appointed Bruce W. Bailly its director of IRT infrastructure, a newly created position at the regional grocer.
Bailly will be responsible for the overall stability and integrity of the network and technology infrastructure, said Big Y. To that end, he will guide and oversee the networking, IRT operations, and data security departments, which include database administration, disaster recovery, transaction processing, computer operations, networking, and PC installation and maintenance.
Bailly reports to v.p. of information resources and technologies Michael A. Tami.
A retail information technology veteran of over 20 years, Bailly began his career at the former Albert Steiger Co. department store chain as a programmer. He then held such positions as a programmer analyst, programming manager, and MIS manage at the company. Bailly joined Big Y in 1994 as microsystems manager and became IT operations manager three years later.
One of the largest independently owned supermarket chains in New England, family-owned and -operated Big Y operates 56 stores throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts.
