Table & Vine, the fine wine, spirits, beer and specialty foods retailer owned by Big Y Foods Inc., is hosting a fundraising event, "A Taste of Table & Vine," for the West Springfield, Mass., Library Public Building Fund. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Young Building at Eastern States Exposition.
The library has embarked on a $2 million capital campaign to raise funds for a 15,000-square-foot renovation, preserving its existing Carnegie wing. Funds generated will also help support public education about the farm wineries of New England.
As a member of the West Springfield community for more than 10 years, the Table & Vine was interested in holding a charitable event. “We immediately looked to The Big E for their convenient location and quality facility,” said Donald MacIver, director of operations for Table & Vine.
A Taste of Table & Vine will feature more than 300 wines including: Lobster Reef Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Clos de los Siete, Ca Montini Pinot Grigio, La Crema Pinot Noir, Hunterdon Pinot Noir, Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, Amancaya Malbec/Cabernet blend, Voveti Prosecco, Segura Viudas Cava and Le Brun Severnay Champagne, among many others. There will also be more than 20 spirits and 50 select craft beers to choose from.
Guests may meet vintners in the Connoisseurs’ Room and taste fine wines, champagnes and spirits such as: Cristal Champagne, Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Perrier Jouet Fleur de Champagne, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, 2009 Château Pavie, and a selection of Pierre Ferrand Cognac including Ancestral and Jack Daniels Single Barrel. Oysters from American Mussel Harvesters of Kingstown, R.I., will also be served.
The event will offer an array of appetizers and entrées from local restaurants Lattitude, The Monte Carlo, Hofbrau Joe’s German Steakhouse and Storrowton Tavern. Additional offerings will include Smart Chicken wings, Iggy’s Bread of the World, Yankee Trader crab cakes, World Class pizza, sushi and shrimp from Big Y World Class Markets; as well as artichoke sliders from Fresh Acres Market and a selection of cheese, crackers and dips.
Tickets are $45 in advance, $50 at the door and $75 for the Connoisseurs’ Room. Tickets will be available at 16 select Big Y World Class Markets beginning March 7.
