Black Gold Farms has expanded its “Better With Reds” promotional initiative to include season-specific campaigns, each of which aims to highlight the benefits of red potatoes during each time of year.
The first campaign, which kicked off on Jan. 20 and runs through March, centers on the nutritional aspects of red potatoes and their versatility in healthy dish options. The launch featured 12 food bloggers who shared healthy recipes, a Facebook contest with a giveaway subscription to Top Chef University, as well as a Twitter party through which consumers shared tips for healthy living.
Throughout the new year, additional campaigns will feature locally grown programs, summer grilling, crockpot cooking ideas and holiday entertaining. Retailers are able to participate by using these tools as on-pack messaging, ad slicks and POS.
“We want to provide impactful promotions for retailers all year long, as well as create simple messages that resonate with consumers about red potatoes,” said Leah Brakke, director of marketing for Red River Valley, N.D.-based Black Gold Farms. “Red potatoes are easy, versatile and delicious. There really isn’t a reason consumers shouldn’t use them year-round.”
