Blaze at Kowalski's Woodbury Store Won't Interrupt Thanksgiving Orders

WOODBURY, Minn. - Following a fire Sunday in Kowalski's Markets store here on Valley Creek Rd., the grocer assured customers that their Thanksgiving orders will still be filled.

The blaze broke out late in the day on Sun., Nov. 18, and was extinguished while employees and customers evacuated without incident, the company said. The fire is believed to have started in the store's electrical room.

Although the eight-store retailer said it had hoped to reopen the store as early as today, in a customer alert was posted on its Web site it said: "We are so sorry to have our Woodbury store closed at this time. We know many of you love to shop our Woodbury location for the holidays. Please understand we're doing everything imaginable to reopen as soon as possible -- perhaps even this weekend. In the meantime, please continue to support us by shopping our Oak Park Heights/Stillwater location just ten minutes away where you'll find everything to simplify the holidays."
