Blue Bunny Hands Out Champ! Cones in Times Square

In honor of National Ice Cream Month in July, Blue Bunny has ventured from its home base in the American Heartland to give away 50,000 Champ! Cones to people at the famous “crossroads of the world,” New York’s Times Square.

The promotion, which began Tuesday and wraps up today, has been phenomenally successful, according to Le Mars, Iowa-based Wells’ Dairy, Inc., which manufactures the Blue Bunny brand. “We handed out 15,000 cones in an hour and a half yesterday,” Liz Croston, the company’s corporate communications and PR manager, told Progressive Grocer on Wednesday.

The Champ! Cones, which offer a generous scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream atop a sugar cone, dipped in chocolate sauce and rolled in peanuts, are being handed out at the corner of 50th Street and 7th Avenue.
