B&R Stores to Donate More Than a Ton of Chicken

Regional independent B&R Stores is teaming up with Smart Chicken to donate about 3,100 pounds of chicken through its Smart Giving partnership with Russ’s Market and Super Saver stores.

Under the program, Smart Chicken agreed to donate one pound of chicken for every 10 pounds purchased by customers at Russ’s Market and Super Saver stores during the month of November. “This is the eleventh year that we’ve partnered with Smart Chicken to help the Food Bank of Lincoln, and we’re thankful for their efforts to fight hunger in our communities,” said Pat Raybould, president of B&R Stores.

In 2011, Smart Chicken donated over 100,000 pounds of chicken nationally through Smart Giving. The company expects to donate even more chicken this holiday season.

Lincoln, Neb.-based, employee-owned B&R Stores Inc., operates 17 stores comprising four store concepts -- Russ’s Market, Super Saver, Save Best Foods and Grand Central Apple Market -- located in seven cities across Nebraska and Iowa.
