Brookshire Grocery Co. Introduces New Loyalty Card Features, Contests

Brookshire Grocery Co. re-launched two promotional campaigns tied to its loyalty card program that give customers a chance to win up to $1 million.

The company is running its Thank You Card campaign combined with its “Thanks A Million Collect & Win Game,” beginning August 4 at 119 supermarkets in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

The game is a 15-week promotion in which customers receive a game piece with each transaction using their loyalty card, which it calls the Thank You Card. Customers place the game markers on an official game board, and when they collect all the qualifying markers, they submit the game board to verify the prize.

“There are more than 91,000 chances to win until November 16, and more than $6 million worth of prizes up for grabs,” said CMO Rick Ellis.

Customers have two chances to win $1 million. Customers can earn “bonus” game pieces when they purchase selected products throughout the store with their Thank You Card. There is no limit on the number of bonus pieces customers can receive in a single transaction.

Ellis said other prizes in the game include $50,000 cash, a Ford F-150 Truck, a Ford Escape Hybrid, a Ford Mustang, $25,000 cash, a $10,000 home remodel, $5,000 cash, Apple iPads, and Brookshire’s gift cards. There are also 14 chances to win a cruise.

In addition, a simultaneous online version of the game will award more than $1,180,000 in cash, vehicles, gift cards, cruises and iPads. When customers go to brookshires.com and click the online game logo, they can enter a unique nine-digit alphanumeric code printed on the inside of most in-store game pieces and see if they are a winner.

The Thank You Card re-launch has been structured to reward customers even more for shopping at Brookshire's, the grocer said. In addition to receiving the best possible price for each item at checkout, new member benefits include a weekly eDeal price automatically loaded onto a customer’s card and several bi-monthly eNewsletters that include similar special offers.

Another new feature allows a customer to electronically load coupons onto the card. Customers can go to brookshires.com and click on coupons they want. When they purchase the items using their card, the discount is automatically given at the register. “You don’t have to clip coupons and remember to take them with you,” Ellis said. “Our customers are looking for a great food and shopping experience. New card benefits deliver convenience and extra savings.”

Another card benefit is a program that allows participating local businesses to provide significant discounts when Brookshire's customers show their Thank You Card. “The AMP program, which stands for Associated Marketing Partner, provides a value that others can’t,” Ellis said. “Businesses operating in our market areas are invited to contact BGC’s marketing department for information on joining our AMP program.”

Tyler, Texas-based BGC operates 151 stores in three states with three distribution centers and seven manufacturing facilities.
