TYLER, Texas -- Brookshire Grocery Co. last week renewed its license for price and promotion optimization software for the third straight year as the system continues to enhance its pricing strategy and drive margins.
While this is the third time the leading regional supermarket chain Brookshire renewed licenses for the Price and Promotion software developed by San Carlos, Calif.-based DemandTec, Inc., the two companies have worked together since 2002.
"We continue to see great results from DemandTec applications,” said Randy Duke, s.v.p. of category management for Brookshire. “Our use of their solutions is delivering benefits both to our customers in the form of better prices and to our company in the form of better margins."
Brookshire uses the DemandTec solutions to support pricing in more than 150 stores. It uses DemandTec Price to optimize and manage everyday prices for its products and DemandTec Promotion to enhance its ability to plan promotions that better meet its business objectives.
According to DemandTec, both applications work together and leverage the consumer demand management science built into the platform to help retailers quantify and shape consumer demand with more effective merchandising and marketing decisions. DemandTec uses a software-as-a-service model to ensure that the latest versions of the applications are utilized.

Brookshire operates 155 supermarkets in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi under four banners. Of these, 122 are Brookshire’s Food Stores, full-service supermarkets featuring everything from specialty departments to carryout service; 30 are Super 1 Foods Stores, upscale warehouse-style stores with lower operating costs passed on to consumers; two Hispanic-format Olé Foods Stores, and one ALPS (Always Low Price Store), a prototype discount-store format.
