Buehler's Bows Online Grocery Shopping

After several weeks of testing, Buehler’s Food Markets, Inc. has launched a Web-based grocery ordering service dubbed "Click, Load & Go," with order pickup at one of its stores, and plans to expand companywide.

The Wooster, Ohio-based grocer’s program went live recently, tied to a single store in Medina, Ohio. It enables shoppers to create orders from an online menu at the company’s Web site, buehlers.com.

The online menu lists 90 percent of the 60,000 items Buehler’s carries in stores; exceptions include books, magazines, greeting cards, flowers, and pharmacy items.

Online customers can specify the size, quantity, and other details in their orders. Once an order is placed, a Buehler's personal shopper at the Medina store will fulfill the order.

Customers pay for their orders when they pick their purchases up.

The family-owned grocer said it plans to expand the program to its other 13 locations in the coming year, according to local press reports.

"Buehler's is all about customer service, so if a customer asks for something, she gets it," Doug Turnbaugh, service and facilities manager and team leader for Click, Load & Go, was quoted as saying.

Buehler’s Click, Shop & Go costs $7.95 per order, or $24.95 per month for unlimited orders. The service fee is waived for the first order of $25 or more, according to the company.
