Cal Giant Berry Farms Cycling Team to Join 'Tour of Pennsylvania' Race

California Giant Cycling will compete in The American Eagle Outfitters Tour of Pennsylvania, a six-day, 450-mile stage race across Pennsylvania from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, June 24-29, 2008.

The race is a signature sporting event for Pittsburgh 250, a commission established to celebrate Pittsburgh's 250th anniversary in 2008, and is the world's richest cycling race for elite international cyclists under age 25.

The six-day stage race will be televised around the world and cover more than 450 miles of Pennsylvania's rolling hills and city streets.

California Giant will participate in a nationally recognized event in a state where the company's strawberries are prominent in regional and national retail chains. During the race, California Giant will promote its brand and products both on the team jerseys and in local grocery stores.

The 2008 American Eagle Tour of Pennsylvania is an international UCI sanctioned 2.2-category stage race for U25 riders only. California Giant cycling is one of only 20 teams of six riders under age 25 selected by race organizers to participate this year.

California Giant Cycling is already preparing for the event and selecting team members to compete in the six-day tour. Max Jenkins, the 2007 U23 national road race champion, Chance Noble, world's team member and top U23 Cyclocross rider, and Tyler Dibble will be part of the Tour of Pennsylvania team.
