To celebrate the beginning of Wimbledon on June 24 in London, California Giant Berry Farms partnered with HSBC Bank to bring the complete Wimbledon experience – including a real grass tennis court, tennis pros and real fresh strawberries and cream -- to locals and tourists in downtown Manhattan across from Madison Square Park.
Over 10,000 samples of fresh strawberries and real whipped cream are being given to fans this week from California Giant branded carts. Each container of berries carries a QR code linked to a California Giant promotional website providing consumers more information about the Watsonville, Calif.-based brand and the long-standing Wimbledon tradition of fresh berries and cream.
As New Yorkers watch doubles matches on the grass court between pros Monica Seles and Jim Courier and young tennis players, they can enjoy the real Wimbledon matches on the jumbotron along with other interactive activities.
“With summer officially upon us and our strawberry season peaking now, this is a great time to interact with consumers and build brand loyalty,” said Cindy Jewell, director of marketing. “Additionally, we tied in with several local restaurants in the area that are featuring our berries in Wimbledon inspired menu items in support of the event.”
This is the fifth year that California Giant Berry Farms has partnered with HSBC Bank to bring Wimbledon activities to New York City.
