Cannes Lions to Hold First Mobile Marketing Awards

This year’s International Festival of Creativity, also known as Cannes Lions will host its first award program for work that lives on or is activated by a mobile device, app or the mobile web during its event to be held June 17 to 23 in Cannes, France.

Called the Mobile Lions, the awards recognize and celebrate the increasing importance of mobile in the media mix.
As a prestigious international annual advertising and communications awards, over 28,800 entries from all over the world are showcased and judged at the Festival. Winning companies receive the highly coveted Lion trophy honoring the most creative Film, Print, Outdoor, Interactive, Radio, Design, Promo & Activation, Film Craft, Mobile, Branded Content & Entertainment and Integrated advertising, as well as the best Media, Direct, PR, Titanium and Creative Effectiveness ideas.

The Mobile Lions Jury will be headed by Tom Eslinger, Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide's digital creative director.

The new Mobile Lions reflect the broad scope and application of mobile, with categories that recognize:

  • Creative use of technology
  • Mobile applications
  • Games
  • Messaging campaigns, including SMS, MMS, and mobile email
  • Best integrated campaign led by mobile
  • Mobile websites and web apps
  • Tablets and other devices
  • Rich media advertising for mobile devices
  • Craft
