Certified Angus Lauds AG New England for Its Beef Commitment

AG New England earned the honor by conducting staff and customer training programs, and featuring the beef at food shows, cutting demonstrations, and product samplings.

Robin Plamondon, director of meat and seafood procurement, AG New England, accepted the award.

"Less than eight percent of all beef can earn the distinctive Certified Angus Beef brand," Plamondon said. "Our standards far exceed those of USDA Select and Choice quality beef. Certified Angus Beef is the best of the best. Only one in five Angus-type cattle can earn the brand."

Certified Angus Beef LLC celebrated 30 years of the branded beef at this year's conference. Annual sales of certified Angus beef is more than $2.5 billion. More than 14,300 retail partners sell the beef products the U.S. and internationally.

Headquartered in Pembroke, N.H., AG New England is a cooperative owned entirely by independent retail grocers. It is the largest retailer-owned wholesale grocery distribution center in New England, and services almost 500 stores in the six-state region as well as upstate New York.
