Chai to Help Chimps, Other Animals

Proceeds from each carton sold of Rishi Tea’s Masala Chai Concentrate, a Fair Trade-certified, organic microbrewed blend of spices, vanilla and single-origin forest-grown black tea, go to Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Program, a youth-driven, global network promoting care and concern for animals, the environment and their communities. Unlike other companies that use soluble tea and flavor extracts, Milwaukee-based Rishi employs traditional spices and ethically sourced, wild-grown black tea leaves from an ancient tea tree forest in Yunnan, China. The spices are slow-brewed in small batches for over 20 hours and carefully infused with tea leaves, as slow brewing results in a more authentic and complex array of richer and fuller flavors, according to the company. The fat- and gluten-free, vegan and kosher product retails for $6.99 per 32-ounce Tetra Pak carton. For additional information, call 414-747-4001 or e-mail [email protected].
