Chain Drug Consortium Launches Pharmacy Alliance

Eleven drugstores have created the Chain Pharmacy Alliance as a contractual joint venture to aggregate their generic pharmaceutical volume into one compliant program.

“The CPA will drive increased generic purchasing value for its members and deliver consistent, dedicated high volume to its suppliers,” said Edward Frisch, president and CEO of both the CPA and his parent organization, the Chain Drug Consortium.

The CPA will be managed by a panel of dedicated, knowledgeable and experienced member buyers, co-chaired by Owen Halloran of Kinney Drugs and Ted Lingerfeldt of Kerr Drug.

Chain Pharmacy Alliance members are Bartell Drugs, Discount Drug Mart, Hartig Drug, Hi-School pharmacy, Kerr Drug, Kinney Drugs, Lewis, Lifechek Drug, Navarro Discount Pharmacy, Osborn Drugs and Thrifty White Pharmacy.
CPA will soon issue an RFP to all eligible suppliers. All CPA members are committed to changing to the suppliers that the CPA selects, and to deliver the forecasted volume to the awarded suppliers.

For supplier convenience and operational consistency, all supplier communication will be conducted through CPA’s single point of contact, Owen Halloran, Kinney Drugs VP of pharmacy professional services, who can be reached at [email protected] or (315) 287-3600 x 263.
