    Coborn’s CEO Discusses Customer-Driven Future

    Social media, focus on fresh, outstanding service round out pillars of growth

    In part two of Industry Talk’s exclusive video segment, Chris Coborn, president and CEO of Coborn’s Inc., chats with Progressive Grocer’s Editor-in-Chief Meg Major about the retailer's industry-leading social media platform and how Coborn’s uses it to forge closer relationships with its customers.

    “We’re still learning about the social media network and how we can use it to market our brand to the customers,” Coborn says, noting that as an industry, "We are continuing to understand how we can leverage that platform.”

    Coborn also describes the regional retailer’s focus on its fresh food departments as a key point of differentiation in its flagship Coborn’s stores, as well as the role customer service plays as one of the company’s cornerstone strategic pillars. In its warehouse format or Save-A-Lot stores, meanwhile, Coborn notes the crucial role in-stock position plays in the customer service equation.

    Coborn also discusses the future of the company with Major during the exclusive interview, emphasizing its never-ending dedication to growth, and a continued inward focus on its store formats — growing those formats where there is opportunity.
