BJ’s Wholesale Club, Inc. has elected of Leonard A. Schlesinger, president of Babson College, as well as a retail industry sector leader and noted author, to its board of directors.
Before joining the Babson Park, Mass.-based college in 2008, Schlesinger was vice chairman and COO of Limited Brands, where he oversaw operations for Express, Limited Stores, Victoria’s Secret Beauty, Stores and Direct, Bath and Body Works, C.O. Bigelow, Henri Bendel and the White Barn Candle Co. At Limited Brands, he also held the positions of president, beauty & personal care group, EVP and COO and EVP - human resources, leadership and organization.
Prior to his stint at Columbus, Ohio-based Limited Brands, Schlesinger worked at Au Bon Pain Co., Inc., first as EVP, treasurer and director, and then later as EVP, COO and director.
His academic career includes 20 years at Harvard Business School, where, most recently, he was the George Fisher Baker Jr. Professor of Business Administration, in which he headed MBA and executive education programs. He was also a faculty member and administrator at Brown University.

Natick, Mass.-based BJ’s operates 184 clubs in 15 states.
