    Conn. ShopRites Hire In-store Dietitian

Angela Corcoran’s services include free consultations with shoppers.

ShopRite stores in West Hartford and Canton, Conn., have added the services of an in-store dietitian to provide the locations’ customers with nutritional information and guidance. As the stores’ retail dietitian and health & wellness coordinator, ShopRite stores, Angela Corcoran will hold complimentary consultations with shoppers, conduct grocery shopping tours and healthy-cooking classes, offer recipe and pantry makeovers, and coordinate other health-and-wellness initiatives and nutritional programs at the store.

To make an appointment, customers can call 860-233-1713 or e-mail Corcoran at [email protected]

“This is a unique service that we are proud to offer to our customers,” noted Chuck Joseph, president of Joseph Family Markets LLC, the owner and operator of the stores. “Having a dietitian in store is just another way that we go above and beyond to provide value and service to our customers. Angie can help our customers in so many ways -- teaching them how to shop smarter, eat healthier and manage their medical conditions. And she will also support local community groups and schools by providing nutritional information and guidance that can help influence better food choices.”

Corcoran joins ShopRite’s existing team of registered dietitians, who provide services at stores operating under the banner in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

Keasbey, N.J.-based Wakefern Food Corp., the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States, consists of 46 members who individually own and operate more than 200 supermarkets under the ShopRite banner in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
