CONTINUING COVERAGE: Hy-Vee Reverses Decision, Will Offer LFTB

Hy-Vee has reversed its decision to stop carrying Lean Finely Textured Beef.

The West Des Moines, Iowa-based supermarket chain reversed its decision after receiving customer feedback. “We heard from many customers who asked us to continue carrying this product. They’ve sent us a clear message: They want a choice when it comes to ground beef, and they want to support companies that provide thousands of jobs in our Midwest trade area,” Hy-vee said.

Hy-Vee will offer both kinds of ground beef – both with and without LFTB. Both products will be identified so customers can determine for themselves which type of ground beef they want to buy.

Meanwhile in New York, Fairway Market has been receiving a lot of customer inquiries about LFTB. Fairway has never sold  LFTB and doesn't plan to. Fairway Master Butcher Ray Venezia says the stores only sell meat that is custom cut by a professional butcher and their ground beef is ground fresh daily.
