C&S Wholesale Grocers Opens On-site Wellness Center

C&S Wholesale Grocers has opened an on-site health care facility at its Keene, N.H., headquarters. The C&S Healthy Living Wellness Center, managed by Colchester, Vt.-based Marathon Health, provides care to the wholesaler’s employees and their families, including dependents over the age of six, within the area encompassing Brattleboro, Vt., and Keene.

Among the available services offered by the center are acute and primary care, wellness and health promotion, health coaching, disease management, medication dispensing, and Marathon eHealth Portal technology, which supports the delivery of care and coaching. Two nurse practitioners, a registered nurse and a medical assistant make up the facility’s staff.

The initiative is part of the company's “Total Rewards” health programs, which encourage people to be active participants in their own health and health care.

"Marathon Health shares our philosophy about health care responsibility, and has the tools and programs to help improve the overall health of our workforce," noted C&S chairman and CEO Richard Cohen.

"What is most important at Marathon Health is how we inspire people to understand and care about their health -- it is the foundation of what we do," said Marathon Health CEO Jerry Ford.

C&S, the 10th largest privately held company in the United States as well as the largest grocery wholesaler in the country, serves about 3,900 stores from more than 50 locations in 11 states. Its customers include Stop & Shop, Giant-Carlisle, Giant-Landover, Shaw's, A&P, Ralphs, Safeway and Target.
