Cornelius “Neil” Buckley, D'Agostino Supermarkets’ director of grocery, HBA and GM, died yesterday morning after a brief illness. He was 41 years old. Buckley had joined D'Agostino’s management team five years ago.

"Neil was passionate about his work, a key contributor to D'Agostino and an extraordinary team player, beloved by D'Agostino associates at every level; he will be missed professionally and personally," noted Nicholas D'Agostino III, president and COO of Larchmont, N.Y.-based D'Agostino Supermarkets.

Before coming to D'Agostino Supermarkets, Buckley, a native New Yorker, worked at US Merchandise for 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, and five children. A private funeral will be held in Long Island, where Buckley and his family lived.

Instead of flowers, Buckley's family has requested that donations be made to support lung
