D'Agostino Launches Student Shopping Bag Contest

LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Nick D'Agostino III, c.o.o. of D'Agostino Supermarkets, Inc. here, yesterday kicked off the D'Agostino student competition to design a new recyclable D'Ag bag.

"We've been a part of New York for 75 years, and as the city changes, so do we," noted D'Agostino in a statement. "[N]ow we're asking the students of the metropolitan area to create our new recyclable bag that you can bring with you each time you shop. By honoring our students and our environment, we're giving something back to our city."

To be eligible, participants must be high school or college students. They can find the entry form and the template for the bag size area from www.dagnyc.com. The deadline to enter is Jan. 30, 2008. Participants must submit the entry form and design to [email protected] with their name, address, school, and year of graduation. The winner will be chosen on Feb. 15, 2008 and posted on D'Ag's Web site.

Judges include D'Agostino executives and well-known art directors, graphic designers, and illustrators in the New York metropolitan area.

The winning design will appear on recyclable D'Ag Bags, which will be sold at all D'Agostino stores. First prize also includes a $1,000 scholarship and a $500 D'Agostino gift certificate.

D'Agostino Supermarkets operates 18 stores, 15 in Manhattan and three in Westchester County, N.Y.
