DCI Cheese Co. is launching the “Taste of Paris” promotion in support of its imported French cheese brand Joan of Arc. From March 1 through April 30, participating retailers such as Supervalu, Tops Markets and HyVee will feature displays encouraging consumers to submit recipes that highlight Joan of Arc cheese. Contest winners will receive a 14-piece Le Creuset cookware set worth $600 or a boxed set of Julia Child’s classic two-volume cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking,” a $60 value.
Additionally, free Joan of Arc recipes will be available on tear-off pads on the point-of-sale displays and at www.dcicheeseco.com. The three free recipes are for the Chicken Brie-licious Sandwich, Nutty Brie, and the Brie, Mushroom and Black Forest Ham Omelet.
“Joan of Arc has consistently been a favorite of our customers,” noted Dominique Delugeau, SVP of sales at Richfield, Wis.-based DCI. “Our customers are very familiar with the brand’s high quality and exceptional flavor, but we wanted to further explore its culinary capabilities. What better way than to extend a challenge to the home chefs who are already creating culinary delicacies with these cheeses?”
Submissions will be accepted online or by mail. All entered recipes will be tested by an independent, qualified judging panel at a formal judging session slated for May. Judging criteria will include appropriate application/use of Joan of Arc Brie or Camembert cheese (25 percent), taste (50 percent) and creativity/originality (25 percent). Winners will be notified around June 15, with one grand prize and six first place prizes awarded. After the contest, visitors will be able to download the winning recipes at DCI’s Web site.
