Harris Teeter to Bring Back ‘Carolina Charm’

The third time is truly the charm for Harris Teeter, which this summer plans to hold its popular Carolina Charm promotion for the third time. From July 27 through Aug. 23, the program will feature brands that began in, and/or still hail from, the Carolinas.

A special multipage feature with coupons for all 20 Carolina Charm brands will appear in the July/August issue of Taste of the South magazine, with additional coupons to be included in the Sunday newspapers throughout the Carolinas on July 24. This year’s promotion coincides with National Picnic Month in July and Family Fun Month in August. The theme of Carolina Charm this time around will be the uncovering of little-known facts about the participating brands, among them Duke’s Mayonnaise (“born in” Greenville, S.C.); Cheerwine (Salisbury, N.C.); Drake’s Fresh Pasta Co., a.k.a. Parla Pasta (High Point, N.C.); and Lindy’s Italian Ice (Charlotte, N.C.).

“Carolina Charm has been very successful in bringing attention to many iconic brands as well as new food companies started here in the Carolinas,” noted Danna Robinson, communication manager for Matthews, N.C.-based Harris Teeter. “We have received a lot of positive customer feedback on the program and its ability to develop a wider customer base for these local products.”

A wholly owned subsidiary of The Kroger Co., Harris Teeter employs about 28,000 associates and operates stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, Delaware, Florida and the District of Columbia.
