Newcastle Unveils New Vikings Amber Ale

Newcastle Brown Ale has teamed up with History to offer a custom-draught beer in celebration of the third season of the "Vikings" series, which premiered late last week.

Available for a limited time in select bars in 10 states, Newcastle Vikings Amber Ale provides a full blend of roasted malts, creating a full-bodied flavor, curbed by a slight bitterness from aromatic German Hallertau Magnum hops. The beer is the second in Newcastle’s Collaboration Series.

“We asked the brewmaster at Brand Brewery to imagine he was working with actual Vikings breathing down his neck, to give him some motivation to brew a great beer,” said Brett Steen, brand manager for Newcastle, a brand of White Plains, N.Y.-based Heineken USA. “Looks like it worked because he turned out a fantastic, full-flavored ale that’s sure to make any Viking a little less angry.”

Newcastle's new brew will be supported by original digital shorts, a national marketing campaign and in-bar advertising from both partners.

Vikings Amber Ale is available in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, South Carolina, Nevada, New York and Pennsylvania.
