Coca-Cola's Minute Maid to Jack up OJ Prices Again

HOUSTON - With the current Florida orange crop projected to be the smallest in 20 years, the Minute Maid business unit of Coca-Cola North America said yesterday it is setting its fourth price increase this year for chilled and frozen premium orange juice.

Prior to 2006, the Minute Maid Business Unit had not increased its prices in approximately five years.

The price increases will be reflected in list price increases and reduced trade spending, totaling 20 percent to 25 percent across Minute Maid's chilled and frozen portfolio, the company said.

Wholesale list prices for Simply Orange Orange Juice and Minute Maid Premium Orange Juice will increase 9 percent to 11 percent this month, the company said, and trade spending and promotional pricing will be curtailed beginning Jan. 1, 2007. The price increases stem primarily from unprecedented cost increases in orange fruit solids and concentrate, as well as fuel and energy and general inflation.
