FFE Transportation Services Selects Manhattan Associates

ATLANTA - Manhattan Associates, Inc. a provider of supply chain execution (SCE) solutions, today announced that Frozen Food Express Transportation Services, Inc., one of the largest temperature-controlled carriers of perishable goods (primarily food products, health care supplies, and confectionary items) in North America, has chosen its Transportation Management Systems (TMS) suite to increase collaboration between its subsidiary carriers and streamline its transportation operations.

FFE, one of the largest trucking companies in North America, will leverage Manhattan Associates' TMS suite to increase workflow efficiency among its three transportation fleets. FFE plans to use the TMS functionality to increase collaboration between three business units within its organization: its dry-freight truckload division, American Eagle Lines; Lisa Motor Lines -- its separate affiliated carrier -- and FFE. Among these three business units there are approximately 2,300 trucks.

"For the volume that we deal with on a day-to-day basis, we needed a transportation management solution that would not only help streamline our transportation needs, but also handle the demands of an expanding client base," said FFE branch v.p. Stephen Branch, "Manhattan Associates' TMS will enable us to minimize operational costs while maximizing our profitability by increasing efficiency within and in between all three companies under the FFE umbrella."

Manhattan Associates' TMS suite will provide FFE with the means to apply automation and proven techniques to improve control over its transportation processes and resources. The carrier management functionality will improve FFE's flexibility, allowing it to adapt to real-time changes in its transportation network, optimize driver-to-load assignments, and determine the most efficient routes and fuel stops.

Among the benefits FFE expects from Manhattan Associates' Carrier Management application are:

-- Proactive identification of in-transit swaps to improve on-time delivery and resource utilization, recover lost capacity, and minimize out-of-route miles;
-- Ability to determine the best route and fuel stops for a given dispatch while evaluating on-time pickup and delivery, utilization, fuel prices and taxes, driver preferences; and highway usage taxes and tolls;
-- Optimal driver-to-load assignments on a minute-to-minute basis among the multiple fleets, maximizing net contribution per day; and
-- Customized and graphical management reports to help assess projected profitability on a region, lane, or customer basis.
