Stater Bros. Promotes John Ciraulo to SVP Fresh Foods

Stater Bros. Markets has named John Ciraulo to the position of SVP fresh foods.  In this new role, Ciraulo will oversee, manage and expand the retailer's fresh food offerings as part of company's continuing aim to help customers take advantage of healthier food options. Ciraulo will report to EVP of Marketing Dennis McIntyre, and the company's meat, seafood, produce, service deli/bakery and fresh item management divisions will report to Ciraulo.

“John is a well-respected and valuable member of the Stater Bros. ‘family’,” said Pete Van Helden, president and CEO of the San Bernardino, Calif.-based company, which operates 169 stores across the Golden State, employing more than 18,000 people. “John’s broad knowledge of perishable foods, in addition to his extensive marketing and retail experience, will allow the company to implement new programs and tailor our fresh offerings to meet the current and future needs of our valued customers."

Ciraulo has worked at Stater Bros. family for more than 31 years in both retail and marketing positions. He joined Stater Bros. in 1986 as a meat clerk at the company’s South Fontana location.  Four years later, he was promoted to meat department manager at Stater Bros.' South Rialto supermarket, and after several other promotions, Ciraulo became VP meat division in 2014, his most recent position before today's move.

Ciraulo earned a vocational teaching credential from California State University, San Bernardino in 2001, and is an instructor for the Stater Bros. Meat Cutting Apprentice Program.  He's also a 2006 graduate of both the WAFC Retail Management Program at San Bernardino Valley College and the University of Southern California (USC) Food Industry Management Program. He holds a bachelor of science degree in business management from the University of Phoenix, and a master of arts degree in business management from the University of Redlands, and has completed the credential program for certified food safety professionals from the National Environmental Health Association. In his spare time, Ciraulo teaches as an adjunct educator at Cerritos College.
