Jameson The Cooper’s Croze Whiskey

Spirit illustrates oak's influence on whiskey's character

Jameson's The Cooper’s Croze is new in Pernod Ricard USA’s The Whiskey Makers Series, a range of three whiskeys, each highlighting a specific part of the whiskey-making process. Using virgin American oak, seasoned bourbon and Iberian sherry barrels, the super-premium whiskey illustrates oak’s influence on whiskey’s character. The non-chill filtered whiskey carries the charred virgin oak character with vanilla sweetness from the seasoned bourbon barrels, additionally adding rich fruit flavors and a balance of floral and spice notes. Curated by Ger Buckley, Jameson fifth-generation head cooper, The Cooper’s Croze is designed to showcase the varying characteristics imparted by the barrels – and, by extension, the important role played by the cooper in the whiskey-making process. With highly specialized knowledge passed down from his ancestors, Buckley is tasked with selecting, repairing and maintaining the Midleton Distillery’s diverse and treasured barrels. The whiskey’s namesake – the croze – is Buckley’s most prized possession. A tool used to make the groove where the head of the barrel is positioned in order to seal the barrel, it symbolizes the important role played by each barrel. SRP is $69.99 per 750-milliliter bottle.
